Overdue Post is Overdue
Dec. 21st, 2010 11:06 amWhoa, a (mostly) not-fannish update! Been a while, eh? Well, I've been swamped, but I've had a couple of noteworthy things happen, so I thought I'd report in.
Last Thursday threatened to be a Very Bad Day. We got our first snow of the season here in Philly. It wasn't a huge snow, but it was enough to put a good coating on everything and make the roads a bit ick. And it would just figure that it would happen on that day, because I had two people scheduled to come look at the apartment/room -- one in the afternoon, one in the evening. (For those who missed it before, one of my roommates is leaving soon, and I've been hunting for a replacement.) Sod's law in action.
The first person was a no-show, unsurprisingly. I expected the second one to be the same, but she actually came. All the way from New Jersey! She and her mom had appointments to look at places all day, so I suppose they were determined to make it. Anyway, she looked at the place, we chatted for a while, and she decided on the spot that she wanted it. So I have a new roommate! YAY!
I think I'm going to like her. She seems a bit geeky. :P She said she has a DVR and an Xbox and spare wireless routers and so forth that she can bring, and her mom described her as "a bit of a technogeek." And she just sort of... exudes geekiness, you know? So I'm going to feel things out and see exactly how much geekiness is there. ;)
Anyway... that was also the same day that my package from
acatnamedeaster came (squeed about in my last post), so it turned out to be a pretty awesome day in the end in spite of the snow.
Speaking of snow... The weather here has pretty much sucked. Or at least, the temperature has. We've been in the 20s and 30s (a range of about -6 to 3 degrees Celsius), and it doesn't look like it's going to get any warmer than that any time soon. I've been handling the cold pretty well overall, but when it gets down below freezing I really can't deal for long. Brain-wise I'm... mediocre. I'm having a hard time focusing, and my motivation is nowhere to be seen a lot of days. Will be chatting with my doc soon. ::sigh::
On the writing front, though, I finally finished and submitted my
hoggywartyxmas piece! I'm pretty pleased with it, I think. Now I need to find the words to start my next couple of sekret fics. ;D
Thank yous to
therealsnape for her patience,
nehalenia for helping me out with a fic idea, and
leela_cat for betaing far more of my stuff than any one person should lately. ♥
