Horror Movies, Yay!
Oct. 13th, 2012 05:02 pmI've disappeared a bit again, this time due to The Sludge. That is to say, I caught a nasty cold and have spent the last week or so doing very little but working and sleeping (and coughing and sniffling and etc.). I have today off, and I'm more or less on the mend, but my brain still seems to be too clogged with goo to really function. So I've been doing what most geeks do when in this condition: screwing around in random, brainless corners of the internet.
In the process of said screwing around, I came across a list of Top 10 Horror Movies You've (Probably) Never Seen. Turns out that I've... seen most of them. Heh. (See, when I was a kid, my mom and I spent a lot of late, late nights sitting around and watching horror movies. Because... I dunno... that's what nocturnal horror movie buffs do to bond??)
One of my absolute favorite movies of all time (horror or otherwise) made it onto the above linked list: In the Mouth of Madness (1995 John Carpenter film). Wonderful, wonderful homage to Lovecraft (without actually being a Lovecraft story itself; it's just very Lovecraft-ian in it's themes and storytelling style). If any of you guys dig psychological horror stuff with a bit of the creepy-ghastly, I totally recommend this one.
So! Horror movie fans on my f-list (there must be some of you out there, right?), what are some of your fave rave horror shows? I'm good with all sub-genres -- psychological, sci-fi, blood'n'gore, comedy, cult classics, zombies... anything's fair fodder. Let's discuss! Gimme some recs! (Maybe I can put together my list of Top Ten Fave Horror Films in the process...)
Yeah, pointless post is pointless, but it's better than no post. Entertain a sick person, will ya??
( ETA: Still screwing around, so I made that list )
