First of all, I have to say THANK YOU to
nxtwothou who sent me a package that arrived in the mail today. I might be on the Ramen Noodle diet next week, but my caffeine addiction will be well fed! ::grin::
Now for what I've been up to lately that's kept me so hideously out of touch with everyone…
Mostly, I've been job hunting, which I talked about in my last post. As I mentioned before, I really want to find a job here in the neighborhood. Being able to walk to work in only a few minutes would save me a lot of energy and time -- two important things of which I'm always short. However, by the weekend I'd run out of nearby places to apply (where I'd be willing to work; I have my limits), and I'd received no calls.
I decided it was definitely time to expand my search, so I spent all weekend fishing through job postings, writing resumes and cover letters and such, and sending them in.
My finances have now gone from bad to frightening, so I was looking at anything I could reasonably reach via public transportation despite the added stress. And… I actually started considering whether or not I was desperate enough to break my promise to myself and start waiting tables again. I have to admit, I was pretty tempted by the money I knew I could rake in. If it hadn't been for a nasty storm yesterday afternoon, I would have gone to apply for a server position I almost certainly would have been given on the spot. (Perhaps the storm was a sign??)
Anyway, here comes the part where I fail. Late last night I discovered that the owner of a place very nearby where I'd really like to work had emailed me three days earlier, and it had ended up in my spam folder. ::epic headdesk of epicness:: (In my somewhat defense, this was in my school email account, which I don't use often and which is laid out like crap. I'm not sure I ever even noticed where the tiny, inconspicuous spam folder was before!)
Of course I emailed her back right away with apologies and assurances that yes, I would very much like to come in for an interview, thank you. She replied this afternoon to arrange that, thankfully. She's not available to talk with me until Thursday, but hey, I'll take it.
It'll be interesting to see whether anyone else contacts me between now and then. Particularly the place that's my other top choice.
So, anyway, that's where I've been. I'm feeling better about my job prospects now, though, so I think I'll officially be Back Online now. Hope you all don't mind if I spam you over the next couple of days! XD
